The Boys and Girls XC teams have spent the last 4 Monday's on one of the toughest courses in the State and have shown continued improvement. As the runners continue to set new personal records, they are setting themselves up for a strong performance at the Class Meet at the end of the month.
The teams faced Barrington, Wheeler and Moses Brown in their last dual meet of the season. They started the afternoon by honoring the only Senior of both teams - Girls Captain Meg O'Brien, in her last home meet.
The Boys toed the starting line first, facing their largest field yet with over 80 runners. Nick Januario joined the lead pack in their blistering pace, finishing 7th overall. The remaining Huskies all set new personal records on the tough course, as they ready themselves for a few weeks of Invitational meets.
The Girls were up next, for Meg's last race on the home course. O'Brien kept pace with the leaders of the race, finishing 4th, just off her PR with a time of 20:59. The rest of the field all had their best race of the season - in some cases taking up to nearly 90 seconds off their previous PRs. Their strong work ethic and tough practice efforts are paying off.
While the dual meet season is over, the teams have 3 weeks and a number of invitationals to continue to improve in their ramp up to the Freshmen and Class Meets in the last week of October.
